Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I'm Adam White and I'll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here's what got the community talking this week...

The People Must Have Something Good To Read On A Sunday

This week's most popular stories

What a week! The folks who run The Fest in Gainesville announced their initial lineup, which features a vast number of bands including 7Seconds, Dillinger Four, Less Than Jake and Strike Anywhere.

Thrice addressed the leak of their upcoming record Beggars, expressing disappointment but vowing to move forward. Later this week they did just that by
pushing up the digital release to August 11th.

Former Against Me! drummer Warren Oakes discussed his
departure from the band and his new restaurant, stating "It felt like that it was time for a new chapter, so I just threw myself into this completely."

It was revealed this week that Mest were the previously unidentified band linked to the extortion charge against Elgin James of Righteous Jams. According to the original complaint, Mest was attacked in Boston and was told they could stop further attacks by making a $5,000 "donation" to FSU.

The Beastie Boys
delayed their new album and cancel their tour after
Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid gland.

Ben Weasel did a round of interviews this week,
addressing the absence of Jughead at recent Screeching Weasel reunion shows and
discussing his next solo record.

Teenage Bottlerocket
detailed their new album, unveiling the track listing and cover art.

Their labelmates None More Black are
writing for a Fat Wreck release next year.

Screeching Weasel, the Sword, and Cobra Starship are set to appear on the upcoming
Jennifer's Body soundtrack.

Victory has signed Before There Was Rosalyn, who claim to be "a ministry first, and a band second."

Speaking of religious acts,
The Sandwiches unveiled details on their "Hitting Refresh to Drop Witty Comments" EP.

Having wrapped up their tour with the Offspring, Sum 41 are now back in the studio to finish their album.

This week the The Bronx unveiled the song

"Quinceniera" from their counterparts Mariachi el Bronx.

Chuck Ragan, Jim Ward, Tim Barry and Dave Hause will perform on the 2009 Revival Tour.

Nothington will tour the
US in support of their upcoming record. The Measure SA will play shows

leading up to Fest. Social Distortion will play shows with

TAT and the Strangers.

Guttermouth has
US shows scheduled while A Wilhelm Scream will play

Europe, the US and Canada in the coming months.

It looks like Blink-182's

entire kickoff performance has been bootlegged. On a related note, Tom DeLonge will now personally
spay or neuter your pets for you. I've seen him do it. It's gross.
