What a week! The folks who run
The Fest in Gainesville announced their initial lineup, which features a vast number of bands including
7Seconds,
Dillinger Four,
Less Than Jake and
Strike Anywhere.
Thrice addressed
the leak of their upcoming record Beggars, expressing disappointment but vowing to move forward. Later this week they did just that by
pushing up the digital release to August 11th.
Former
Against Me! drummer Warren Oakes discussed his
departure from the band and his new restaurant, stating "It felt like that it was time for a new chapter, so I just threw myself into this completely."
It was revealed this week that
Mest were the previously unidentified band linked to the
extortion charge against Elgin James of
Righteous Jams. According to the original complaint, Mest was attacked in Boston and was told they could stop further attacks by making a $5,000 "donation" to FSU.
The
Beastie Boys
delayed their new album and cancel their tour after
Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left parotid gland.
Ben Weasel did a round of interviews this week,
addressing the absence of Jughead at recent
Screeching Weasel reunion shows and
discussing his next solo record.
Teenage Bottlerocket
detailed their new album, unveiling the track listing and cover art.
Their labelmates
None More Black are
writing for a Fat Wreck release next year.
Screeching Weasel, the
Sword, and
Cobra Starship are set to appear on the upcoming
Jennifer's Body soundtrack.
Victory has signed Before There Was Rosalyn, who claim to be "
a ministry first, and a band second."
Speaking of religious acts,
The Sandwiches unveiled details on their "Hitting Refresh to Drop Witty Comments" EP.
Having wrapped up their tour with the
Offspring,
Sum 41 are now back in the studio to
finish their album.
This week the
The Bronx unveiled the song
"Quinceniera" from their counterparts Mariachi el Bronx.
Chuck Ragan,
Jim Ward,
Tim Barry and Dave Hause will perform on the
2009 Revival Tour.
Nothington will tour the
US in support of their upcoming record. The
Measure SA will play shows
leading up to Fest.
Social Distortion will play shows with
TAT and the Strangers.
Guttermouth has
US shows scheduled while
A Wilhelm Scream will play
Europe, the US and Canada in the coming months.
It looks like
Blink-182's
entire kickoff performance has been bootlegged. On a related note, Tom DeLonge will now personally
spay or neuter your pets for you. I've seen him do it. It's gross.
