Beyoncé or Britney? Eminem or Kanye? And what about Gaga or Jay?!?
From the sound of things, if you require a last name, you don't have a prayer of winning at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Or, at least, that's what you're telling us anyway.
See, on Wednesday, we gave you our VMA predictions — who we saw winning September 13, when the show is broadcast live from New York City. Even though we're still roughly six weeks away from the big show, that didn't stop us from calling this one already. In our opinion, Beyoncé is the odds-on favorite to take home the most Moonmen, including Best Female Video, Best Choreography and, the night's biggest award, Video of the Year.
Of course, that prediction sat pretty well with B's fans — but not so well with the legions of Britney disciples out there. Seems we had Beyoncé beating Ms. Spears in each category, something that seemed impossible to Brit's supporters. And they let us know about it. Then Beyoncé's fans let them know about it too.
So basically, the comments on our original story quickly became a battle of Beyoncé vs. Britney — but the bickering wasn't strictly limited to fans of the divas. We had Eminem fans sparring with Kanye kids (the hip-hop heavyweights are up against each other in four VMA categories), Lady Gaga devotees sticking up for their favorite fashionista and even fans of Pink letting their voices be heard. The response was thunderous.
And since it will be these same fans who determine the winners in most VMA categories — by voting over at VMA.MTV.com or texting VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers — all that back-and-forth is pretty vital. So we decided to highlight some of the best of the best. And if you still think your favorite star hasn't been represented, feel free to join the conversation in the comments below.

"Beyoncé better do almost a clean sweep. She DESERVES five of the awards she was nominated for. Britney fans, get over yourselves. 'Single Ladies' dominated. It was done by the president, Tom Cruise, Justin T., Katy Perry, Joe Jonas, being used as a plot theme for television series 'Glee,' a hundred women in Europe did it in the street, Oprah did it ... and has been dubbed the 'biggest dance craze since Thriller.' Beyoncé owns all. Tell Spears' non-talented self to watch out. ... Beyoncé's showing her how it's done." -- Laniece07
