Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I'm Adam White and I'll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here's what got the strange, slow, old people in the community talking...
The People Must Have Something Good To Read On A Sunday
This week's most popular stories
We could really launch an entire
Against Me! sub-site given the volume of news they generate. The band was involved in a
bus crash earlier this week, but walked away with no serious injuries. Frontman Tom Gabel commented on the accident, and also streamed his
new solo LP Heart Burns. The band itself will
begin to work on their next album soon, and has laid out plans for writing early next year. Popular act
Fall Out Boy
is aiming to set a record for the
most radio interviews in a day on Halloween. The group is doing the press in support of their upcoming album Folie à Deux.
The massively influential band
Jawbreaker is planning a reissue of their
Unfun album. They'll also be the subject of an upcoming documentary. To top it all off, Frontman Blake Schwarzenbach also revealed that he's making music again with an as-yet-unnamed group.
3rd wave ska survivors
Reel Big Fish are planning a
covers album. A tribute to
Kid Dynamite is set for release
in the spring and will feature interpretations of the band's work from acts like the
Ergs,
This Is Hell, and
Broadway Calls. There'll be plenty of punk bands in upcoming video games. Looks for the
Clash,
TSOL,
Teenage Bottlerocket and
One Man Army in
Skate 2 while
Between the Buried and Me,
Underoath, and
Authority Zero will head to
Rock Band 2. This week we checked out
MxPx's version of
"Take Me Out to the Ballgame"
and an
acoustic session from the
Gaslight Anthem. Look for
Bomb The Music Industry on tour this fall with bands like
Shinobu and
Mustard Plug. We end the week with some videos, including
Simple Plan's
"Save You" and the
Offspring's
"You're Gonna Go Far, Kid."
