Though he's serving five years of probation and has just begun a six-month community labor sentence for his assault of former girlfriend Rihanna, Chris Brown tweeted on Monday that he's about to embark on a promo tour.
" 'Bout to start a small tour soon," Brown wrote in a post early Monday morning that was deleted by Tuesday afternoon (October 6). "15 to 20 dates ... My fan appreciation tour. Just for y'all. Nothin' bigger than 4,000 seaters." The singer did not reveal any more information about the tour, including the dates or when it would kick off, and Brown's label, which has not yet announced a release date for his upcoming album, Graffiti, had no comment on the tour.
Authorities in Virginia, where Brown is serving his community labor sentence after pleading guilty to assault earlier this year, have declined to comment on the terms of the labor service, including whether Brown has to report daily and if the 180 days must be served sequentially. While Brown posted images of himself clearing brush and garbage on what appeared to be his first day last month, no further images have surfaced since then. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Probation Department had not responded at press time to questions about the conditions and travel restrictions on Brown's probation. Brown's lawyer also had not responded to MTV News' request for clarification at press time.
Last week, Brown released the first single from Graffiti, the Swizz Beatz-produced "I Can Transform Ya," which features Lil Wayne. Though he has mostly kept a low profile since the assault in February, Brown has signed on to headline Power 105.1's Powerhouse concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on October 27, alongside Fabolous, The-Dream, Trey Songz, Mario, Ginuwine and Day26.
