Eminem ventured outside his inner circle when it came to collaborations on the just-released Recovery, including his duet with Rihanna on "Love the Way You Lie." The songstress spilled the details on how the track came together and her hopes of performing the song when Em and Jay-Z share the stage in September.
"They reached out to us directly and they just said, 'We have this song and we just think Rihanna would be perfect to sing it,' " Rihanna recalled in an interview with E!'s Ben Lyons. "And, of course, I was like, 'OK, if I love it, I'll definitely do it, because I love Eminem.' And I love the song.
"It's really beautiful, and it really stands out," Rihanna added. "It's a really unique record. I'm really excited about it."
When asked if she would join Eminem to perform the song during his joint concert with Jay-Z at each of the rappers' hometown baseball stadiums in Detroit and New York, Rihanna was optimistic. "Hopefully, because I would love to," she said. "That's a huge stage to be a part of."
It wouldn't be the first time the pop star has shared a stage with the rapper to perform the track. She surprised fans during Em's six-song set at Activision's E3 concert last week.
Alex Da Kid, the producer of "Love the Way You Lie," told Rap-Up.com that the rapper recorded the song in two days and always planned to get Rihanna on the track.
