After a recent hospital stay, Aretha Franklin is home just in time for the holidays. The legendary songstress is recovering after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed ailment earlier this month.

"I've been at home for almost three days now,"Franklin said in a statement on Wednesday (December 15). "My family and friends who brought me home are taking great care of me. I also have a private nurse who visits on a daily basis."

The "Respect" singer also detailed some of her plans now that she's out of the hospital, which include heading to the theater to check out stage productions inspired by '60s soul music.

"I'm hoping to be strong enough to go out and see the upcoming Sam Cooke play at the Music Hall in downtown Detroit before Jan. 2, as well as a performance of 'Dreamgirls' at the FOX [theater] before it closes," she continued.

"The Queen of Soul is in great spirits and very happy to be home where she will be resting in anticipation of spending the upcoming holiday season with her family," her rep added.

The statement comes one week after the Reverend Jesse Jackson gave an update about the singer's post-surgery condition.

"She's conscious, communicating and taking daily walks up and down the hall," Jackson told The Associated Press on December 8. "She has amazing strength — body, religion and faith," he said. "It's what he keeps her going."

Although neither Franklin nor her publicist have revealed the nature of her illness, multiple reports indicate that she is battling cancer. A relative confirmed to news station Fox 2 in her native Detroit that she is dealing with a disease, which may be either pancreatic or bladder cancer.
