If Dr. Dre was the mad scientist that created the monster that became Eminem, then Eminem was responsible for creating the monster that became 50 Cent. Back in December 2002, MTV News caught up with the three-headed monster on the set of 50's breakout video for "In Da Club," where he, Dre and Em — also shooting his own video for "Sing for the Moment" — talked about, well, themselves.

They were the biggest thing going on in pop culture, after all. Dre was already a legend and Em was a superstar. And that new 50 Cent guy, they thought, was probably going to make it big.

"We should figure out a way to move the camera a little bit more over here," 50, sandwiched between Dre and Em on the Hollywood lot, said. " 'Cause when Em is here, it's a little hard for you to see me."

"Sometimes it tends to pan this way [gesturing toward himself] and that way [gesturing toward Dre]," Em agreed. "And we want it that way [on 50]."

The trio that would anchor the Shady/Aftermath dynasty were there to promote 50's upcoming debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin'. Em was in the midst of promoting his third album, The Eminem Show, which was several singles deep at the time. And Dre talked about his Detox album, telling MTV News the delay was due to it being "the one they're gonna remember me for."

Well, fans are still waiting on that Dre album seven years later. But 50 Cent did manage to blow up as big as his bosses, with his multiplatinum debut and two follow-ups. Em, for his part, went away for a bit battling his drug addiction, but now the Detroit lyricist is back, as his Relapse album is due Tuesday.
