My Chemical Romance performed a sold-out show for charity at Maxwell's last night. Did you see it?
A Hoboken Now reader named Mark - who was issued wristband No. 179 - was one of the lucky 200 or so who got a ticket. Here's his review:
"When I got there around 9 (p.m.), there were about a dozen people or so on line still hoping for tix; they may have even gotten some," Mark said. "MCR came on right around 9:30 as scheduled and played until 11!"
Even though the show sold out last week - apparently the same day tickets went on sale - Mark said they might have been able to sell a few more tickets because Maxwell's wasn't jammed to the rafters. He said, wisely, they decided to leave some elbow room - while it was crowded near the stage, it was surprisingly empty around the bar area.
The best seat in the house? "One girl, some teenager, got to sit on stage with them for a few songs, off to the side," he said.
The bottom line: "Great place to see a show, although if MCR played there five years ago no one would've known them and you probably would have paid $10 to see them."

You guys were awesome and while the line was long, painful, and wet, it really was a good time! What an amazing show and experience -- it's so rare that I get out and feel like I am one with the people around me... thanks for being there and being so cool.
Periculosa wrote a rather long (but very colorful) review:
Oh my, just. Oh, oh, oh my. Babbling, babbling so hard right now, because that's how freaking* amazing tonight was. Epic. Only word for it is epic.
I have never, ever had more fun at a My Chemical Romance show than I did tonight. It was. The most. Fun. Ever.
*Only she didn't write "freaking."
And here's a snippet from Pepino21786's review:
By the time the first song was done I was sweating like a crazy person. The boys threw out water bottles and poured some water onto the audience. A bunch of people in the crowd did the same. I got some of Frankie and Gerard's spit/sweat on me and I think under normal circumstances, I would have been completely grossed out. But the fact is, they were performing like maniacs with all their heart and soul. Everything that landed on me felt fantastic. When I made it over to the other side of the room, my hair was plastered to my face and I was completely drenched in water and bodily fluids.
(There's also a very detailed description of the concert hers and this person mentions a new song that they performed. -Retsin)
